DESCRIPTION:Goldfields launch of Einstein-First    On behalf of Professor David Blair\, I would like to invite you and your school to the launch of the Einstein First program (EFP) in the Goldfields region.   I have been very fortunate to be involved in this program from the very early stages. It’s great to see that finally it’s launching in our region. EFP is a hands-on and very engaging science program. I will highly recommend you to attend the launch so that you can get the first-hand information about the program and how the students and teachers of your school can benefit.   For details\, please see the flyer in the attachment.   Details of the launch are:   Date: Term 2 week 5 Monday\,22nd of May 2023 Time: 4-6 pm Venue: Student services-Eastern Goldfields College Kalgoorlie   During the launch you will be provided with more detail about the program and how you  can become involved. You may trial some of the lessons during the second half of this year and if your student enjoy the approach\, gradually adopt the modules from 2024.   The Einstein-First program introduces students to atoms\, molecules\, photons and phonons from Year 3 and our modern understanding of gravity and electrical forces in Year 4. This UWA-led initiative aims to reverse the decline of student attitudes to STEM by replacing outdated 19th century physical science concepts with modern Einsteinian concepts that underpin modern technology. This program starts at Year 3 so by the end of Year 10 students have knowledge of and engage with concepts they have all heard about through media\, like photons\, black holes and quantum computers\, yet don’t normally experience in their science lessons.   The web site www.einsteinianphysics.com and the attached brochure provide an overview of the project and additional background.   The Project has received generous funding from companies Gold Fields\, AngloGold Ashanti and DDH1 work with Goldfields primary and secondary schools to implement the program.   Please send RSVP by Friday 19th of May 2023 COB.
