The main aim of students completing the senior schooling years is to achieve their Western Australian Certificate of Education – WACE. Achievement of WACE is the first step towards university entrance and a great benefit towards TAFE and employment pathways.
To achieve WACE, students need to ensure they have the following covered:
-
Complete at least 20 course units – up to 10 could be endorsed programs and for every 6 units, 2 need to be paired
-
Achieve a C grade average in at least 16 course units – half of these must be at Year 12 level
-
Achieve English language competence – complete at least 4 units from English courses and meet the English language competence standard through comparison of work samples
-
Courses need to be from the 2 lists
-
Sit for WACE exams when enrolled in pairs of stage 2 or 3 units – unless exempt
