Two students from Eastern Goldfields College
- Sarah Cotter and Tristan Taaffe – were selected to compete in
regional competition in Cookery. Both students put in a sensational
effort with Sarah Cotter winning this event and she will represent the
state next year in Brisbane in the National competition. Tristan performed well and finished in fourth spot.

- WorldSkills Australia holds competitions around the country for school students who study a VET (Vocational Education and Training) subject.
- Selected students can test their talents against their peers on a regional (Western Australia) and national level.
- This was held at Challenger TAFE in Fremantle.
- There were students from across the state who competed in this hospitality competition.
- Students were asked to prepare a three course meal for four people in a set amount of time.
- Students were judged on the actual preparation of the food (eg: how they prepared the food; cooking it, cutting it), how the meal was presented, how the food tasted and how they coped with the pressure of the situation.
